We are looking for a Junior Accountant – Tax Compliance Outsourcing to join our Tax practice in Bucharest. You will support experienced colleagues in delivering accurate accounting records and tax returns for our clients, building a solid foundation for your professional career.

What will you actually do?
You will work as part of a tax compliance outsourcing team, supporting the preparation of accounting records and tax returns for Romanian entities and learning how to apply local regulations in practice.
Core responsibilities
- Day-to-day bookkeeping: Record accounting entries in the accounting software (e.g. Winmentor, ERP systems) based on source documents, under the guidance of senior team members.
- Monthly closing support: Assist in basic reconciliations (suppliers, customers, bank, cash) and in preparing trial balances and simple reports for review.
- Compliance with Romanian regulations: Help ensure that transactions and records are compliant with Romanian accounting and tax rules, by following internal instructions and checklists.
- Tax calculations & returns (support): Prepare draft tax calculations and working files for VAT, Corporate Income Tax and WHT, and support the preparation of tax returns to be reviewed by more senior colleagues.
- Cash & expense recording: Record cash disbursements, expenses and petty cash transactions, and support petty cash reconciliations according to Romanian accounting & fiscal regulations.
- Documentation & working papers: Collect, organize and archive supporting documents; prepare clear working papers that explain the accounting and tax treatment of transactions.
- Audit support (execution): Support yearly audits by preparing standard reconciliations and documentation requested by the audit team, under supervision.
- Tools & automation: Work within methodologies that use automated postings and OCR solutions; learn how technology is used to streamline compliance processes and contribute to data quality.

Experience & background
- Professional experience:
- Up to 2 years of experience in accounting (e.g. internships, junior roles in accounting or tax compliance, or similar).
- Education & qualifications:
- University Degree in Accounting or Finance (completed or in final year).
- Enrolment in or interest in professional qualifications (e.g. CECCAR, ACCA) would be a plus.
- Functional knowledge:
- Basic understanding of Romanian accounting principles and main tax concepts (e.g. VAT, Corporate Income Tax, WHT).
- Familiarity with core accounting processes: recording invoices, payments, basic reconciliations.
- Tools & methods:
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, basic lookups, simple reports) and good command of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint).
- Basic knowledge or exposure to accounting software (Winmentor preferred); experience with SAP, Navision, Ciel or other ERP systems would be a plus.
- Openness to work with automated postings and OCR tools and to learn new systems quickly.
- Communication & language:
- Upper-intermediate / Advanced English skills, both written and spoken; fluent Romanian.
- Able to communicate clearly with colleagues and to document work in a structured way.
