We are looking for a Junior Tax Consultant within our Tax – Global Mobility Services (GMS) / Expatriates Services team. You will support organizations and international employees with tax, social security and immigration aspects of cross-border assignments, learning from experienced professionals and building your expertise in a dynamic, global environment.

What will you actually do?
You will work alongside more experienced colleagues to support the tax compliance process for inbound expatriates to Romania and Romanian employees going on international assignments. You will help ensure accurate and timely filings, while learning the fundamentals of global mobility tax and social security.
Core responsibilities
- Personal tax compliance support: Assist in preparing Romanian personal income tax returns and related filings for expatriates and international assignees, under the supervision of senior team members.
- Data collection & validation: Collect and organize assignment-related information (e.g. personal details, compensation data, travel days), check completeness and follow up on missing information.
- Basic calculations & workpapers: Prepare simple tax and social security computations, working papers and summaries based on standard methodologies and templates.
- Social security & payroll support: Support the team with documentation and basic analysis related to social security positions and payroll coordination for cross-border assignments.
- Client and assignee communication (guided): Communicate with assignees and HR contacts on routine matters (e.g. information requests, status updates), escalating more complex questions to senior colleagues.
- Documentation and file management: Maintain well-organized electronic and physical files, ensuring that all relevant documents, calculations and correspondence are properly stored and easy to retrieve.
- Legislation monitoring & research (entry level): Support simple research tasks on personal tax and social security topics and help the team monitor changes in relevant legislation.

Experience & background
Typically, you will bring:
- Education:
- University degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Professional experience:
- No prior full-time experience required; 0–1 year of experience in tax or a related area is a plus.
- Any internships, part-time roles or volunteer work in a professional environment are an advantage.
- Functional expertise (entry-level):
- Basic understanding of personal income tax and payroll concepts gained from university or previous experience.
- Strong interest in tax, global mobility and working with international clients.
Tools & methods
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for calculations, documentation and presentations.
- Ability to work with standardized templates, checklists and workflows.
- Interest in learning tax, payroll or global mobility software and tools.
Communication & language
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Romanian fluency is expected for local interactions.
- Able to communicate professionally via email and in meetings.
- Additional foreign languages are a plus in a global mobility context.
Nice to have
- Previous internship or work experience in tax, payroll, HR or a professional services environment.
- Basic knowledge of Romanian payroll legislation and related IT applications.
- Exposure to international environments (e.g. study abroad, Erasmus, multicultural teams).
