We are looking for a Data Governance Engineer (Informatica IDMC) to join our Data & Analytics team. You will support enterprise Data Governance initiatives, translating business needs into effective Informatica IDMC solutions and helping organizations improve data quality, transparency, ownership and trust through modern data management practices.

What will you actually do?

You will be responsible for implementing and supporting Data Governance capabilities on Informatica IDMC across Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Metadata Management and Data Quality, working closely with business and technology stakeholders.

Core responsibilities

  • Data Governance frameworks & policies: Support the implementation and operationalization of Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards and operating models across business functions and technology teams.
  • Informatica IDMC configuration & operations: Configure, administer and maintain Informatica IDMC components, including Data Catalog, Data Quality and Data Integration, ensuring reliable and scalable data governance capabilities.
  • Business glossary, metadata & lineage: Build and maintain business glossaries, metadata repositories and data lineage views in Informatica IDMC; ensure definitions, relationships and lineage remain accurate and up to date.
  • Data quality rules & KPIs: Define, implement and monitor Data Quality rules, controls and KPIs for critical datasets, and support remediation of data quality issues with business and technical teams.
  • Critical Data Elements & stewardship: Assist Data Owners and Data Stewards in identifying, defining and managing Critical Data Elements (CDEs), including ownership, stewardship responsibilities and governance workflows.
  • Data discovery & classification: Support data discovery and classification activities (e.g. sensitivity, domain, usage), helping business and technology users understand where data resides and how it should be managed.
  • Cloud data platforms & integration: Contribute to data integration and governance-related initiatives within cloud data platforms (e.g. Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse, Fabric, AWS, GCP), ensuring metadata, lineage and quality coverage across the data landscape.
  • Testing & validation: Define and execute test cases for data quality rules, catalog configurations, lineage and governance workflows, validating that solutions meet business and regulatory requirements.

Additional responsibilities

  • User enablement & support: Support Data Owners, Stewards and data consumers in using the Data Catalog, business glossaries, lineage and data quality dashboards; provide guidance and best practices.
  • Documentation & standards: Document governance processes, data quality rule catalogs, metadata models and Informatica IDMC configurations to ensure consistency and repeatability.
  • Reporting & insights: Help prepare dashboards or reports on data governance and data quality KPIs, providing insight into data fitness for use and areas for improvement.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance governance processes, tooling configurations and operating models based on usage patterns, feedback and emerging best practices.

Experience & background

  • Typically, 3+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management or Data Engineering, ideally in enterprise or consulting environments.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Informatica IDMC (Intelligent Data Management Cloud).
  • Data governance expertise:
    • Good understanding of Data Governance principles and operating models.
    • Experience with Data Catalog and Metadata Management concepts and practices.
    • Practical knowledge of Data Lineage and Impact Analysis for analytical and operational systems.
    • Understanding of Data Quality Management (profiling, rules, controls, KPIs) and issue remediation.
    • Familiarity with Data Stewardship concepts (roles, responsibilities, workflows).
  • Data engineering & analytics:
    • Strong SQL skills and ability to work with large datasets.
    • Good understanding of data warehousing concepts (e.g. dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT patterns).
    • Experience with at least one cloud data platform: Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse, Fabric, AWS or GCP.

Tools & methods

  • Hands-on experience configuring and using Informatica IDMC components (Data Governance & Catalog, Data Quality, Data Integration) for enterprise data governance initiatives.
  • Experience designing and maintaining Business Glossaries, Metadata Repositories and Data Lineage capabilities within data catalog tools.
  • Ability to perform data profiling, define data quality rules and interpret data quality dashboards and reports.
  • Familiarity with basic integration concepts (e.g. connectors, API-based integrations) between governance tools and cloud data platforms.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for documentation, analysis and presentations.

Communication & language

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills; able to work effectively with Data Owners, Stewards, IT and business users.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus.
  • Able to explain data governance and technical concepts in clear, non-technical language to business stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Informatica Data Quality and Informatica Data Governance & Catalog modules, beyond core integration.
  • Familiarity with Python for data or metadata automation scripts.
  • Experience with API integrations between Informatica IDMC and cloud data platforms or other data management tools.
  • Exposure to industry data management frameworks (e.g. DAMA, DCAM) or regulatory requirements related to data (e.g. GDPR).
